Hello! So another whirlwind of a month is soon to be in the books, but I can’t let it pass without reliving some of my favorite things from May with you guys!. Here we go!
Favorite Recipe Accident
The last time I visited my friend Heather in Florida she made an amazing salad with this special dressing that you can only get from a local market in Tampa. Well, since I don’t have TSA pre-check and didn’t want to deal with liquids on a flight, I’ve been trying to recreate it and each time it gets a little better, and the last batch was a hit! (I’ll post the recipe next month so stay tuned! 🙂 ) Even better, I decided to marinate some fresh mozzarella balls in the dressing for a salad and they were DElish! This dressing will be my new go-to.
Favorite Etsy Shop
As featured in the 1 Year Anniversary Gift Ideas post, I ended up getting this amazing piece featuring our vows and a wedding picture from the amazingly talented artists at Shine Graphic Art. They specialize in custom wedding anniversary and other special occasion gifts. Every step of working with them was an absolute delight, from the communication, to the selection process, to the proof-review process to receiving the beautiful finished piece, wrapped in beautiful paper and with a hand written note. Do yourself and check them out for upcoming gifts on your list!
Favorite Subscription Box
My May Birchbox, curated by Emily Schuman, author of one of my favorite blogs, Cupcakes and Cashmere. I’m especially loving Benefit’s Lollibalm Lip Hydrator and Harvey Prince Sincerely fragrance. The Lollibalm is not waxy and offers a beautiful flush to my lips. I don’t usually enjoy getting a fragrance sample in my beauty subscriptions because I have yet to get one that I would actually wear, but this one is beautiful! It’s so fresh and feminine, and smells like summer!

Favorite Trip to the Car Wash
Truth be told, it was the only trip to the car wash. In a very, very, very long time. There was still some residual salt residue on my car from the Winter! Regardless, you may know by now that I’m kind of a Buckeye fanatic. Imagine my excitement when I ran into my favorite player, Ezekiel Elliot (aka Zeke the Freak as Ryan and I fondly refer to him)! And what are the odds that I even had on an Ohio State t-shirt!
Favorite Technology Innovation
So we know that highlighting and contouring is and has been the biggest trend in makeup for a good minute at this point. Many people that I talk to about this trend are really intimidated by attempting it on themselves for fear of looking like they have stripes painted on their face. Dilemma solved. The Sephora Pocket Contouring guide is amazing! This incredible mobile makeup marvel uses it’s “face analyzer” to determine your face shape and feature positioning based on your uploaded photo, then guides you through the best products to use based on your skin tone, skill level and preference, and shows you where to apply the products in 5 steps right on your picture! Say whaaa?!
Favorite Husband’s Birthday
Ok, obviously I only have 1 husband, but even if I had more he would definitely be my favorite! 😉 We had a quick little weekend getaway to Chicago to celebrate his birthday and had a fantastic time. We did some touristy stuff that I never did when I lived there, and had some goooood eats! A lot splurging was had!
What were your May highlights? I hope that you’re having a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

The Sephora Pocket Contouring Guide is new to me … can’t wait to check it out. Just bought some highlighter from Sephora and I had the salesgirl draw on a paper where each color was supposed to go! By the way – Happy birthday to Ryan 🙂
Lydia says
Let me know how it works for you! And Ryan says thanks. 🙂
