Hello, Happy May! I really loved recapping April, what a wonderful month! It contained our 1 year wedding anniversary, my dear friend Cory’s birthday, the end of a bitterly cold winter, and all the other fun stuff below! I hope your April was amazing too!
Favorite Sighting
I have developed a complex that I have some kind of dolphin-repelling energy that I emit when they are in my vicinity. When visiting our friends in Florida, we are the only ones who have been out on their boat and NOT had a dolphin sighting. Well, I’m happy report that the spell has ended! Ryan and I went to Clearwater Beach, rode (and drove) a speedboat and spotted 5 dolphins. Haha, check out my expression of dumbfounded surprise. 😉
Favorite Gift
This amazingly thoughtful and creative gift from Ryan for our 1st Anniversary. I asked him to not read my 1 Year Anniversary Gift Ideas post, because I was still deciding what “paper” gift to get him. He obliged, and obviously didn’t need my help anyway, because he surprised me with this. He ordered a mat and frame that houses 4 of our wedding pictures, along with the lyrics to our 1st dance song. Swoon. Love him!
Favorite Shopping Discovery
I love some good boutique shopping. It’s so fun to find creative fashion and gifts that you don’t see everywhere every day of life. Shoptiques is an amazing site that boasts some of the world’s best boutiques. Now we all have the opportunity to find artfully curated merchandise, even if we don’t have the luxury of strolling down to our local trendy shopping area. On Shoptiques you can find loads of unique items at every price point, from $3.50 for a pack of tongue in cheek Curious Cat matches, to $1,790 for a luxurious cashmere throw.
Favorite DIY Project
I love making (and using) Sugar Scrubs! This recipe was an attempt to pay homage to one of my favorite scents, Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo & Conditioner. While it doesn’t smell exactly like it, I love how it turned out! It is so refreshing and invigorating. And of course I love the soft skin condition it leaves behind!
Favorite Party Idea
A “Talk Derby to Me” Kentucky Derby party. This party idea comes from OMG Lifestyle Blog and wins best party title EVER! Don’t you agree? Elaine covers every little detail you would need to have a fabulous party; from attire (all about the hats, of course!), the invitations, cocktails (Mint Juleps, anyone?) to derby themed hors d’oeuvres (tea sandwiches shaped like horseshoes?! Get out of town with the cuteness!) and everything in between. Unfortunately I was out of town this whole week so it wasn’t in the cards for this year, but I would love to throw this party next year!
Favorite Funny
This picture from Sun Gazing! I can’t. I just… can’t. 🙂

Mindy provides very clear inspiration on color schemes, layering and adding interest with variance in height. This is a must-see, and then you too can be a Shelf-Styling Boss. I mean, how amazing is her’s?!

Thanks for featuring my blog in your April favorites! Love your blog and enjoy the variety of topics – – especially your make up posts. How about one on highlighting and contouring?

Thanks Heather! I actually worked in my garden over the weekend. There’s still much to do, but I will share when I wrap it up. In the meantime, you can check out the progress on my Instagram @LydiOutLoud!
