Hello friends! Don’t worry, Ryan’s still around, I have my soul mate, but today we’re talking sole mates. One of the things that drives me the craziest about doing laundry is the mysterious case of the missing sock. Every.damn.time! I truly don’t know where they disappear to for months at a time, only to show their faces, er feet, again months later.
Survey: After you have folded your laundry and realize you’re left with a lonely sock, what do you do with it?
A. Put it back in the laundry. It will reunite with the other sock after a few rounds.
B. Lay it on top of the washer. The other sock will turn up eventually.
C. Throw it away. I’m tired of having random lonely socks cycling through my laundry and cluttering the top of my washer!!!
I’ll admit. I’m A. and then if the other sock is still M.I.A. after 6-ish months I’m C.
But now, I’m D: Hang lonely sock from clothes pin on cute laundry room sign.
What is said sign? Its an easy DIY I made out of an old wood plaque I found at the thrift store.
First I spray painted the plaque with some Chalk Finish spray paint. Gray. Of course, because have you met me?
Next I cut out adhesive vinyl letters with my Silhouette Cameo and attached them on to the sign.
Next, to hold the lonely socks I found some oversized clothes pins at Michael’s that work perfectly. I found some aqua scrapbook paper to give my sign a little brightness and cut pieces to fit the top and bottom of the clothes pin.
Then I decoupaged the scrapbook paper strips onto the clothes pins.
I still needed a little more of a design element for my sign so I decided to cut out some socks with my Silhouette. Yes, they’re gray. I have a problem. 😉 I decoupaged them on to both sides of my sign.
I glued on the clothes pins with Industrial Strength Adhesive because let’s be real, they’re going to get a workout with every load of laundry. You’re talking to a chronic sock misplacer.
And here it is. As if on cue (or actually just my reality), I had 2 lonely socks from yesterday’s laundry to model the sign for you. If I don’t come across Ryan’s missing Ohio State argyle sock I might be looking for a soul mate too! Haha! 😉
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
