This Embroidery Hoop Wreath with Wood Slices makes a great fall door decoration and with an easy switch can be used for any season year round.
I’m a big fan of versatile decor… I love my seasonal and holiday decorations but don’t have the budget (or storage space!) to totally switch out my decor for every season. That’s how I came up with this embroidery hoop wreath. It’s an easy DIY that can be done in less than 30 minutes and takes only a minute to change for the season.
Sound good to you? Let’s make you one too! (P.S. I also made my first DIY video for this embroidery hoop wreath! Check it out below.)
Embroidery Hoop Wreath with Wood Slices
Supplies
- 14″ embroidery hoop
- Variety of florals
- Floral or wire cutters
- Glue gun
- Wood slice coasters
- Cricut or cutting machine (for cutting stickers)
- Adhesive vinyl (for cutting stickers) or any Letter or number stickers
Directions
Starting with the florals of your choice, trim the stems to various sizes (the lengths can be adjusted more later if needed). I used a blush hydrangea, some blush small dahlia stems and some season filler stems. Can you tell I’m really digging the blush trend?
Slightly open the clamp on the embroidery hoop and slide the base of the largest focal flower in. Add a couple drops of hot glue and tighten the clamp screw.
With hot glue, attach a couple of large leaves removed from the large flower and some of the brown filler floral pieces on both sides of the focal flower.
Begin filling in with the smaller flowers, attaching with hot glue, trimmed to various heights, tapering the height down as you work out and away from both sides of the focal flower.
Place letter stickers on wood slices in the word of your choice. Attach the wood slices to the inside of the embroidery hoop wreath and to each other with hot glue.
OR add number stickers to make your embroidery hoop a versatile year-round every day wreath.
Hang wreath with ribbon, jute or wreath hanger of your choice.
EMBROIDERY HOOP WREATH VIDEO TUTORIAL
I made the video to upload to the Joann app. Have you seen their new app for iOS and Android? They have a “How-to” section with loads of DIY videos that show you how to do so many different things; everything from crochet, decorating the perfect cupcake, sewing, drawing, knitting to making a wood slice embroidery hoop wreath 😉 and so much more in between. And the totally fun part… anyone can add a how-to video to the Joann app! Yes, you too! You can either upload a video or there is a camera right in the app that will record it for you. The app has video editing tools to trim sections of the video, speed it up and you can even add music to create your project soundtrack.
The new app also has info on the latest sales, exclusive online only sales and tons of coupons that you can save right in the app.
Something that literally makes my day is when I get emails, messages or social media tags showing me your latest projects. Soooo with that being said, I have a challenge for you! 🙂 Create a project within the app and share it on your social channels; show off those creative skills you have. And of course don’t forget to send it to me/tag me (and #handmadewithjoann)! What project would you want to show off?
Is there a project that comes to mind that you’d really like to learn that you’d love to see on the app? Go ahead, peruse and let me know what strikes your fancy in the comments below!
Also check out how I transformed this wreath for Christmas here and for Valentine’s Day here!
