Make these fun (and so so easy!) DIY Wood Wine Gift Tags in minutes. These tags will dress up a bottle of wine to make the perfect hostess, housewarming or wine-lover gift!
Hi friends, happy Fri-YAY! We made it to the weekend and spring is springing over here, how about where you are? And you know what that means, right?! Spring parties and patio get-togethers are on the horizon.
What do you usually take to party? There are infinite hostess gift options but for many of us, a nice bottle of wine is a great go-to for hostess, housewarming, neighbor and holiday gifts. Do you fall into that category? Well, if you want to jazz up that bottle of wine and bring some laughs then you should definitely make these fun DIY wood wine gift tags. Heck, they make a great gift in and of themselves, with or without the wine bottle because who doesn’t love a good wine pun?! If you know me you know I love me some puns!
This wood wine gift tags tutorial shows you how to create beautiful gift tags with iron-on and a Cricut cutting machine. It is so easy that you’ll be whipping up wood gift tags for anything you can think of!
DIY Wood Wine Gift Tags
Supplies
- Unfinished Wood Tags
- Cricut Explore Air or Cricut Maker
- Wine Tags Cut File
- Glitter Iron-on Vinyl (I used Black, Eggplant and Aqua)
- Weeder Tool
- Cricut EasyPress and EasyPress Mat
Open the wine tags cut file in Cricut Design Space. If you have a different size wood tag, you can adjust the size of the designs as needed. Make sure to mirror the text before cutting anytime you use iron-on.
Select the appropriate material setting on the Cricut (on the Explore Air 2, turn the knob to the dot to the right of iron-on since glitter iron-on is thicker than standard iron-on and on the Maker select glitter iron-on). Place the iron-on material on a standard grip cutting mat, glitter side down. Load into the machine and cut.
Weed out the negative space from the designs.
Did you know that you can use iron-on on wood? It’s one of my favorite ways to use my Cricut! Set the EasyPress to 300º F. Position the design on the wood wine gift tag or if you’re using a regular iron to about medium-high heat. Press with iron about 20 – 30 seconds. Allow to cool before peeling away the backing. If any part of the design starts to peel up with the backing, don’t remove the backing and heat for another 10 seconds, again allowing to cool before attempting to peel away the backing.
Can you even believe how easy it is to make these wood wine gift tags?! Hang one on a bottle of wine and you have a fun and unique gift to take to your next gathering!
