As promised in my Top 10 New Year’s Beauty Resolutions post, I’m sharing my 5 minute makeup routine that covers the #7 beauty resolution. I realize that may be a tall order, because if you’re anything like me, my regular makeup routine is every product but the kitchen sink. Side note, I want to develop a makeup product called “kitchen sink” so I can say “everything AND the kitchen sink!” With this being said, initially it took me out of my comfort zone to minimize my routine to a 5 minute deal. What I would previously do if I didn’t have time for the whole shebang before leaving the house was to forego makeup all together and hide in shame if I saw anyone I knew while out. I know, completely illogical. I am definitely a little too “all or nothing” sometimes.
I’m pleased to say that I’m abiding by this resolution and actually, I’m not mad at it. Here is my 5 minute makeup routine, in case you need a little help kick starting this resolution. 🙂
5 Minute Makeup
Step 1. BB all the way
I’m obsessed with BB creams. Ob.sessed. I’m all about a multi tasking product and BB’s are the ultimate multi taskers! My favorite BB is a result of a happy accident. I bought Garnier roll on eye cream, which I didn’t like at ALL, and there was a sample of Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream ($11.99). This stuff is shut the front door ridiculously incredible! It brightens my skin, evens out discoloration, has SPF, smoothes texture and gives an extra boost of moisturizer. I can literally slap it on with a beauty blender
and it blends perfectly within seconds. Like the name says, it’s a miracle perfector. And fast. And that is all. In love. ♥
Step 2. Concealer
MAC Prep & Prime Highlighter pen in Bright Forecast ($26.00). This baby is like my morning cup of coffee, personal overhead warmth light, and lies on my behalf as to how much sleep I got the night before.
Step 3: Cream Eyeshadow
MAC Prolongwear Paint Pot in Bare Study ($21.00). This is another great multi-tasker. It’s a mega long-wearing cream shadow in a neutral gilded champagne shade which doubles as a shadow base that maintains color purity and prevents creasing and fading. Easy to sweep across the lid with a finger or even better with a fluffy brush to blend out the shadow gradually.
Step 4: Mascara
Revlon 3D Volume Mascara in Blackest Black ($7.19). This is a powerhouse volumizing mascara at a very reasonable price point. In order to be able to skip eyeliner, I do a push and wiggle maneuver at the base of my lashes, meaning that I really push the wand super close to the root of the lash, so that it actually ends up getting some mascara on the upper water line (this happy mistake is a great fake out for eyeliner!) Wiggle the wand back and forth against the root to give the appearance of a thicker, fuller lash line.
Step 5: A two-fer
MAC Casual Colour in Red Obsessed ($22.00). Yep I’m obsessed, but I would say the color is actually more peachy than red as the name would suggest. These pots of delight blend beautifully on the lips and cheeks for a perfectly flushed glow.
Step 6: Brows
Brows are one of my desert island features. They give a perfectly groomed and polished frame to the entire makeup and your beautiful face.
Benefit Gimme Brow brow gel ($22.99) in another twofer. It has actual fibers in it so it fills in my overly tweezed spots, and the gel forms and shapes my sometimes unruly brows into submission.
So that is my 5 minute makeup routine! Totally doable, right?
What are your favorite multi-taskers in your makeup arsenal? Do any of these products look intriguing that you’d like to try?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

1) How have I not tried prep & prime??
2) Just Bare Study solo? Intriguing.
3) I’m curious how Revlon compares to False.

1) You haven’t?! I thought we had discussed.. ? You MUST!
2) Yes I know. It was a little disconcerting at first. But can totally be done!
3) I’m not as much of a False fan as you, I like In Extreme Dimension which Revlon is comparable to.
