I can remember the first time I fell in love with Pinterest. It was January 2012 and I had just fractured my back. I got my 1st iPad as a gift from my stepmom to keep me from dying of boredom while I laid flat on my back all day, every day. Well, that mission was accomplished! I had never imagined I could find something that would so effectively suck up all of the time in my immobile days with such entertainment. Did you ever see that meme about what your Pinterest account says about you? Well my pins would have indicated that I was a crafty, stylish, well travelled, obese, millionaire alcoholic with some killer hair/makeup and a fierce peanut butter addiction. Ok that last part is actually true. 😉
It’s been 4+ years and my love of Pinterest is still going strong. Of course, the honeymoon period is over (that happened when I went back to work post-medical leave) and sometimes Pinterest gets on my nerves, but I still invest time every day in keeping the spark alive.
What I first got out of my relationship with Pinterest was an imaginary mirror. A mirror that was held up to me every day reminding me to rediscover my creative spirit. Creativity had always driven me through my life with purpose, but I really lost site of it as the tasks of adulting grew. For this reason, falling down a flight of concrete stairs that January morning wasn’t actually the worst thing ever to happen because it brought me back to such a core part of who I am. Even when it was time to “adult” again, I didn’t lose that special mirror and it has impacted my life every day since.
I truly believe that artists or creatives of any kind grow in their art through opening their minds and imaginations to the beauty and inspiration around them. I have gotten more inspiration and seen more beauty through Pinterest than I ever thought possible from a website!
For today’s Friday Find I wanted to share with you some of the Pinterest accounts that I follow that make my creative spirit sing in delight! These pinners share curated content of both their own creations and pins from others that have inspired them. Enjoy the eye candy… I hope it helps your creative spirit to sing from the mountain tops!
