I’m excited to be partnering with Roundup® For Lawns to get ready for patio season!
I truly can’t remember a year that I have been more excited to see spring. Ohio weather has always been finicky, but this year was especially so. Spring seemed to arrive in February and we were all convinced that the groundhog was way wrong. We took full advantage… we bought a new grill, ate out on the patio a few times and even wore short sleeves. Well then winter decided to kick in around the second week of March. It was very strange to see tulips sprouting, peeking through a couple of inches of snow.
The beautiful spring weather we had in February got me in planning mode for this year’s patio season parties! We spend the bulk of our time outside in the spring and summer and love to have family, friends and neighbors over to enjoy the weather on our patio.
Are you excited for outdoor entertaining too? These are some of the most fun parties we had last year that took full advantage of beautiful weather and patio season!
Paint & Plant Party
Collect some clay pots, herbs, craft paint and friends and enjoy a fun day outside getting your green thumb on while planting your summer herbs.
Smoothie Bar
There is nothing more refreshing once the hot weather hits than a smoothie, am I right?! Cut your favorite fruits into chunks, freeze overnight and blend. Pour the puréed frozen fruits into separate carafes and put on ice; everyone can play mixologist to create their own favorite smoothie recipe!
Red, White & Blue All the Things!
Memorial Day is next month… I can’t wait to bust out all of my red, white and blue decor! The biggest hits at last year’s cookout were the red, white and blue cheesecake stuffed strawberries and the berry infused water. (Please ignore the sad lawn backdrop!)
A good thing about our sneak peak of spring that we got in February is that it put getting our lawn in shape on our radar early. This year we’re trying the new Roundup For Lawns; I literally lol’ed when I read the label and knew it was for me! It reads, “Kill the weeds, not the lawn”. I think in previous years we have succeeded at the exact opposite. The dandelions were thriving… the lawn, not so much. Roundup for Lawns has even taken the guesswork out of deciding which product we need. They have formulas for northern and southern regions, created specifically to handle different types of grass. Roundup has always been a weed-eliminating magic maker in my flowerbeds so I can’t wait to see what it does for our lawn.
What do you have in store for this patio season? What do you do to prepare for outdoor entertaining months? I’d love for you to share in the comments below!

Hey Lydia,
First thanks for sharing this, and I hope there is one item that you would possibly consider adding to the description. Some people have allergies to certain plants. As an example, I am extremely allergic to live basil. Cooked is fine, but something in the living plant makes it difficult for me to breathe if I am near it even in a grocery story with a lot of ventilation.
My request is that if your readers are going to have this party, they check to see if there are any specific plant allergies with their guests so that those can be pulled out of the mix before the group arrives.
In any case, thanks for the great post.
