When Ryan and I were on our honeymoon last year, one of the things we loved the most about where we stayed was that they offered to spray your pillows with a scent of your choice as part of the turn down service they provided each night. I love good smelly stuff! We tried several of the scent offerings through our stay, but we came back to the lavender as our favorite.
So here’s the thing… I love to sleep. I really love sleeping. Like, a lot. There’s really no comfort like climbing into a warm and cozy bed. And climbing into a warm and cozy bed that smells like fresh lavender is pretty epic.
When we got home from our honeymoon, I looked all over to find something that smelled the same, and even found lavender pillow spray in various home stores, but it didn’t smell like the honeymoon pillows.
I needed to recreate the honeymoon pillows. Needed. Like I need coffee in the morning. So yeah, you see this need is no joke. I immediately ordered Lavender essential oil and anxiously awaited another opportunity to relive the bliss of the wonderful honeymoon pillows.
Success! This pillow spray (I think it should be called sweet dreams spray!) is truly one of my favorite things. Crawling in to our cozy, delicious smelling bed has melted away the cold and relaxes me right to sleep. I often wake up through the night, but catching a waft of lavender when I roll over is so calming, it lulls me right back to dream land.
Here’s how you can make your own Lavender pillow spray:
- Add ¾ cup of distilled water into a spray bottle (I use empty body spray bottles)
.
- Add about a half cap full of 100% Pure Lavender Essential Oil
(affiliate link) to the water. I like it super smelly (smelly in a good way).
And that’s it! 2 ingredients to a truly decadent sleeping experience.
Make sure to shake well before each use to re-introduce the oil to the water.
Want to try some for yourself and a pretty label to match? You can click here to download printable labels (I just used the shipping labels you can find here. I hope you find the same bliss from this delightful concoction!
Does Lavender have the same hypnotic affect on you as it does me? If other scents are more your jam, you can use this same recipe with any essential oil that you like.
Sweet dreams! 😉

This sounds lovely but doesn’t it make your pillows damp?
Lydia says
Hi Biddy! It really doesn’t, as long as the spray bottle doesn’t spray in a stream and you hold it about a foot or so from the pillows. It only takes 1 spray to get that lovely smell. Enjoy! 🙂
