We all know who they are and in all likelihood you have at least one of them on your list. The person who has everything! They are the htbf (hard to buy for). If you’re anything like me, this person is probably still lingering on your shopping to do list because you have absolutely no gift ideas for them! This year I vowed not to be in the same position with the htbf that I am in every year, so I started researching Christmas gift ideas early. I hope an idea or 2 here will help you cross an htbf off of your list. There’s a little something for everyone, no gift receipts required!
The Gift of Freedom
We’ll start with the obvious: gift cards. This is always a great gift idea for the htbf’s. This way they have the freedom to pick out what they want, when they want. My favorites cards to gift are Amazon, Etsy, or htbf’s favorite restaurant (if you aren’t sure of his or her favorite restaurants, many restaurant groups sell gift cards that can be used at any restaurant that falls under their umbrella. Lettuce Entertain You, Darden Restaurants and Brinker International Restaurants are a few common restaurant groups.
The gift of memories
Have you heard of GrooveBook? What an awesome idea! You upload up to 100 pictures per month to GrooveBook, they bind them in a 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 album for you, it arrives at your door in about a week AND it’s only $2.99 a month, INCLUDING shipping! This is a great gift for that person who has thousands of pictures on their phone and never does anything with any of them. And bonus! They are offering 1 FREE BOOK with a subscription when you enter the promo code BLOG14.
the gift of knowledge
Has htbf mentioned an activity or a sport that they would like to learn? Whether it’s golf, photography, sewing, cooking or breakdancing, there are lessons for EVERYTHING! Look into gifting a local lesson or an online course, a variety of them pop up on Amazon Local and Groupon frequently.
the gift of relaxation
Put together a DIY Spa Kit to give him or her permission to relax, slow down and take time for themselves. You can find amazing recipes for DIY spa products as well as these incredibly adorable labels on Lia Griffith. Add in this DIY Lavender Linen Spray from Decor Chic so that htbf can drift in to a blissful state of relaxation following their spa pampering session!
the gift of fun
What kind of events does htbf enjoy? Theatre? Concerts? Sports? Get them tickets to an upcoming event they would enjoy.A Buckeyes game is always a sure bet for Ryan! 😉
the gift of a warm heart
When I see the man with the bell in front of Macy’s or the firemen in the intersection with a boot in his outstretched hands, it reminds me to be thankful. It feels so good to give! You can give htbf that same warm and fuzzy feeling by making a donation in their name to a charity that they’re passionate about, or you can even buy a Tis Best gift card so that they can decide where they would like to make a difference.
the gift of personalization
Search Etsy. It is easy to lose yourself for hours on this site! As long as you know an interest or 2 of htbf’s you are guaranteed to find a super unique and creative gift. For example, I searched “Ohio State Buckeyes” and found this adorable Brutus the Buckeye knit baby hat which my friend’s future baby will absolutely be receiving from Aunt Lydi. Let’s say that htbf has a pet ferret that they love to dress up, simply search “Ferret costumes” and you can pick up this Ferret Alligator costume. Um, clearly Etsy has something for even the hardest htbf. 😉
the gift of ups
You know we all love to hear the sound of the doorbell and see the man in brown there waiting for us with a big box! Imagine gifting htbf that feeling of delight guaranteed for 3 months with a 3 month club subscription! What kind of club? Well, if you ever wondered if there is a bacon of the month club, the answer is yes. Dessert of the month, cheese of the month, hot sauce of the month, jerky of the month and pretty much anything that you could stick in front of “of the month” can be found at Amazing Clubs. What a fun gift and great conversation piece! 3 month subscriptions range from about $50 – $110 depending on the product.
the gift of your time
Ask htbf if there is anything that they would really like to do and want a buddy to do it with. Maybe it’s going to a movie, taking a walk, going to church, volunteering for the less fortunate or even just out for a coffee. Gifting time is priceless! Check out Ryan rolling up his sleeves when we volunteered together for a Christmas dinner this week. 🙂
the gift of exploration
An Amazon Prime gift membership ($99.00) is truly the unlimited gift that keeps on giving! Not only will htbf be able to order on Amazon with free 2-day shipping, but they will get access to loads of free music, movies and even unlimited Amazon cloud storage for photos. For the internet shopper, movie and TV lover, music lover, well really anyone, you can’t go wrong with this one! Want to check it out for yourself, or if you’d like to give a teaser of a gift, you can get a free 30 day trial here.
Can you believe Christmas is just 1 week away?!What do you buy for the htbf’s on your gift list? Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?
I hope with these ideas you might be able to move a person or 2 on your list out of the “hard to buy for” category.
Thanks for reading!
