Hello! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We had the perfect quintessential summer weather weekend here in Ohio. Low 80s + low humidity = total perfection. That’s my ideal weather combo… the kind of weather you spend all year waiting for. This summer I had a funny (not funny haha but funny strange) realization. I long for summer weather like this all year, but when it arrives I really do not maximize it. Sure, I get outside plenty, but there is a slew of summer activities out there that I have never taken advantage of. Do you relate? If so, let’s change that this year. You game?
So after having this realization I decided I needed to do some research to find some summer activities beyond the ones that I know are out there (many of which I haven’t tried either). I’ve rounded some up that can be found in many cities or if not, a car drive away. Let’s get our summer activities on!
Summer Activities Bucket List
1. Outdoor Movies
These are popping up everywhere! Bring a picnic and enjoy a movie outside, or some of the events even have food and beer trucks on site.
2 Go to an Art, Antique or Craft Street Fair
There are in abundance during the summer months and are so fun to peruse!
3. Outdoor Concerts
Check out your nearby outdoor concert lineup. Many cities also have themed orchestra concerts, like this one in Columbus where the Columbus Symphony Orchestra performed a night of Michael Jackson songs.
4. Take a Segway Tour
It’s rare that we are tourists in our own cities, right? Segway would be a fun way to tour the areas of interest in your city or nearby destinations.
5. Play in the Water with the Kids
I won’t lie, when I see one of these kid friendly fountain play joints, I sometimes want to jump in myself. I restrain myself because it would probably be a little awkward. 😉 These can be found all over the country at outdoor malls, in parks or even just on random streets.
6. Disc Golf
Think frisbee meets putt putt. Yep, good times!
7. Visit a Farmer’s Market
Fresh seasonal produce is one of the highlights of summer for me. You can find it very fresh and reasonably priced at local farmer’s markets while supporting local farmers. Win win.
8. Find a Scenic Bike Trail
More and more cities are becoming more bike friendly and have created beautiful bike and walking trails to enjoy local scenery.
9. Go to a Baseball Game
Even if your city doesn’t have a pro team (we don’t in Columbus), there are many AAA semi-professional teams throughout the country. Baseball goes with summer like Crackers Jacks go with baseball.
10. Make it Your Mission to Find the Best Brunch on a Patio
If you’ve hung out with me on the blog before you know about my infatuation with brunch. The only thing better than brunch is brunch on a patio. Ryan and I have a running list of spots we want to try while on our continuous hunt to find the best patio.
So what do you think of these ideas? Which one(s) sound fun to you? What are some of your favorite summer activities that aren’t on the list? Please share in the comments below, I love adding to my bucket list!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful week!
