Host a fun beach themed party complete with tropical food/drink and fun painting for all skill levels!
My beach themed party with painting is sponsored by DecoArt. All opinions shared are my own.
Can I get an amen that summer weather is finally here?! I feel like I can finally come out of hibernation and enjoy the weather, friends and parties! I was so excited to have my friends over for a fun Social Artworking beach themed painting party… even though the weather was iffy so we painted inside, we still felt the tropical vibe with some tropical decor, food and drink.
This was such a fun party not only to have but to decorate for and plan. Here are all the details so that you can host your own!
How to Host a Fun Beach Themed Party with Painting
Relax Painting Party Invitation
Set the scene for your beach painting paint with a custom invite. This one even has the Social Artworking Tranquil Surf design so that your guests can get excited for what they will create. You can find a template to create your own invitation at the bottom of this post.
Painting Party Supplies
The Social Artworking party planner takes all of the stress and guesswork out of planning your painting party. You simply choose your design, add how many people will be painting and the party planner tells you exactly how much you need to order for all of the supplies and it all arrives at your door. It couldn’t be any easier. At our beach painting party we painted the Tranquil Surf design but there are literally TONS of designs on the Social Artworking site that you can choose from (you can browse through them here).
Beach Themed Food and Decor
Can you tell I got way into this party theme? 😉 I wanted us to feel like we were at the beach (as much as you can possibly feel that way while in Ohio!) so I decorated with a sand pail utensil caddy, pineapple cupcake toppers, tropical fruits and drinks and personalized monstera leaf cups so my friends could keep track of their drinks. I painted my canvas in advance so that I could visit with my friends and answer any questions about the painting process. It also made a great decoration to go along with my beachy food and decor and served as a larger example for guests to reference.
Painting Party Set-up
Cover your tables with kraft paper in case of any spills. Set each painting station with an easel, canvas, paint brushes, a cup of water for brush rinsing, a plate or palette for paint and paper towels for drying brushes in between rinses. I made copies of the instructions for each guest to have as a reference.
Another reason I like to complete my canvas before the party is I can walk through each step and share any tips that I discovered while doing mine.
You may be thinking that you can’t paint the design let alone teach others how to do it, but believe me… if I can do it, you can! Just because I’m crafty and like painting stuff doesn’t mean that I’m a painter. There’s a big difference! I’ve gone to a painting class before and literally gave up halfway in because I couldn’t follow along and my painting looked nothing like the instructor’s (not in a good way!) Social Artworking is completely different than any other type of painting party or event you’ve been to. You get an outline of the design and carbon paper to trace onto the canvas so you have a roadmap for where to paint and there are super detailed steps that walk through the entire painting.
Most of my friends thought that their paintings would be a flop, even through most of the painting process. Remind your guests to not give up on the painting during the process, there are some steps that it may look like it’s not coming together but by the last step the painting comes to life.
Look how amazing they turned all out!
This is such a fun way to spend an afternoon or girls night in with your friends. Take a peek at all of the designs and let me know in the comments below which one you would choose for your party. If you host your own don’t hesitate to shoot me any questions you may have and share pics with me, I love seeing all of your parties! You can check out my other Social Artworking parties here for some inspiration. Have fun! 🙂

Those are all so good! I’m horrible at painting but I wish I was good. This is the type of direction I need to paint it seems

Hi Susie! Trust me you could do this even if you think you’re horrible at painting! 🙂
