The holiday party circuit is in full swing, so today we’re talking holiday beauty, with spotlight on your holiday smile. Having had braces for most of my adolescent life (and bearing the emotional scars to show for it! lol), I’ve always had a love for a beautiful smile. The eyes may be the window to the soul but I believe the smile is the window to the heart. As cheesy as it sounds, I love what a smile means (that you’re happy!) and I love how expressive it is of someone’s personality and spirit.
There’s a lot of smiling that happens this time of year… it’s the most wonderful time of the year, right?! Remember that even with your hottest LBD, you’re never fully dressed without your holiday smile. Ok, I promise that’s the end of the cheesefest! 🙂
Here are 4 steps to your most spectacular holiday smile:
- Crest 3D White Whitestrips 1 Hour Express (available at Walmart)
- Lip scrub
- Your favorite red lipstick
- An angled liner brush and concealer
Crest 3D White Whitestrips 1 Hour Express
Since I invested all those years in braces, I want to protect my teeth so I have whitened them twice a year with Crest Whitestrips for years (in December and June. Yes, I’m OCD). This year for the 1st time I tried the 1 Hour Express variety and whoa guys. These things are no joke. At first I was skeptical that just 1 hour for 4 days could give me the same results as my usual twice a day for 2 weeks formula, but they definitely did (see before and after below). It’s amazing that in just 4 days these strips eliminated all signs that I partake daily in significant coffee consumption (coffee is my spirit animal).
Other than the incredible results, I love how zero hassle the 1 Hour Express Whitestrips were. Has anyone else ever felt like they’re preparing for a week long fast when getting ready to apply whitening products? Did you have enough to eat? Did you drink enough water? What if you get thirsty? What if you get the worst headache of your life and need to take a pain reliever? With the 1 hour express, there is an advanced seal technology so that you can talk normally (no spitting on people) and even drink without shifting them out of place. Say whaaa?! Win win.
Now that your teeth are sparkling, it’s time to pull out the holiday lip. You know the one. But here’s a word to the wise… if you’re going to rock this bold lip look, especially in the dry and cold winter months, a hydrating lip scrub is a must. My DIY Lip Scrub is sugar and coconut oil based so it sloughs off the flaky lip bits and leaves soft lips behind. Massage lip scrub in a circular motion on lips and wipe off gently (or lick off, totally up to you).
That Red Lip, Classic Thing that You Like
I like that song, I can’t help it. I liked red lips before Taylor Swift did though. 😉 Now you’re going to apply your favorite red lipstick. I know you might be thinking “I can’t wear red lipstick,” but as a former makeup artist, I promise, you can. There are many different reds with varying undertones and textures so there is truly a perfect red lip for anyone.
Angled Liner Brush and Concealer
Applying a bright or bold lip color is a lot like a coloring book… it’s ideal to stay in the lines. Easier said then done though, I know! This concealer trick will keep the red lip glam-like and not clown-like. After you have applied the lipstick, take a thin, angled liner brush and load it up with your concealer. Run the loaded liner brush along your entire lip edge to create a perfected, crisp lip line (in case that didn’t happen so much when you applied the lipstick!) Think of it kind of like a reverse lip liner, but doesn’t have the sharp lip liner look that can leave you with a red outline when the lipstick wears off.
