Hi friends, I hope you’re having a great weekend. I have to admit that I’m feeling a little pouty today after my Buckeyes’ undefeated season came crashing to an end last night. But life (and the blog) must go on, right? 😉 Creating always lifts my spirits (or at the very least acts as a great distraction) and making these Grapevine and Wire DIY Napkin Rings did the trick. They take little effort and score a 1 on the easy to difficult scale. Sounds like a perfect DIY for a day filled with football let-down, don’t you think?
Grapevine & Wire DIY Napkin Rings
The natural elements, along with the warm brass and brown tones in these DIY napkin rings make them a great fit for fall and beyond. Wanna make some? Good, let’s play!
Supplies
- 16 yards of 20 gauge brass wire (or color of your choice) cut into 4 equal lengths. Note: This doesn’t have to be exact. I bought 2 packages of 8 yards of wire from Michael’s and just eye-balled it, knowing that I wanted to get 2 napkin rings out of each package of wire (similar wire here).
- 4 Grapevine balls
- Wire cutters
- A firm round object to wrap the wire around (a small spice container like the one below is the about the size you’re looking for)
Directions
Start your napkin ring by firmly pressing the end of the roll of wire against your round firm object and wrapping the wire around it.
With each wrap around, vary the tightness and direction to create a dimensional napkin ring.
When you have the napkin ring to your liking, cut off the end of the wire. Make sure to keep a firm grip on the wire around the container so that the wire doesn’t unravel. Lace the wire through the grapevine ball so that the ball is positioned around the middle of the napkin ring.
Twist the the 2 ends of wire tightly together several times.
Snip off a small piece of wire and wrap around the entire ring and twist around like a twist-tie. Trim excess wire at ends.
And that’s it! So easy.
These DIY napkin rings look great even without the grapevine ball… simple and elegant.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend friends!
